People needing to demonstrate English language proficiency for work, study or migration, are now able to take IELTS, the world’s most trusted English test, on a computer at UOW College Australia at the University of Wollongong.
Scott Allford, UOW College Australia’s IELTS Test Centre manager, said: “We are proud to be the first Australian test centre outside a capital city to offer computer-delivered IELTS.”
From 30 January, computer-delivered IELTS in Wollongong will be offered every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the possibility of increasing tests to 7 days a week. The IELTS test consists of listening, reading, writing and speaking tests. All components will be conducted on the same day, so test takers can complete their IELTS test in one day. “This enables test takers the flexibility to sit the test when they want, and get their results within 5-7 days,” Scott said.
“being able to offer quick results for IELTS tests is great for our test takers”

Wollongong is a major regional hub that attracts many international students and workers who may need to sit an English test for migration or professional reasons. According to Scott, “being able to offer quick results for IELTS tests is great for our test takers, but also the organisations who rely on these results such as universities or government institutions.”
In Wollongong, test takers now have the choice between taking IELTS either on computer or paper. The listening, reading and writing test content remains the same, and the speaking test will continue to be face-to-face with a certified and experienced IELTS examiner.
