The instructions for the IELTS Listening and Reading test are usually as follows:

Write one word only
Write one word and/or a number
Write no more than 2 words
Write no more than three words and/or a number

I have never seen ‘no more than 1 word’ before. This is probably taken from a practice test. It would also be very unusual to answer a question about someone’s name and not write the complete name – Dr Kevin White.

If your instruction says ‘no more than 1 word’, then, Yes, you are correct.

However, the real IELTS test will have the instructions in bold above.

Remember to always follow the instructions and only write the number of words (or a number) that you are allowed.
