The IELTS Academic and General Training tests are the same cost but the fee will depend on the test location you choose. Contact your preferred IELTS test centre or apply online to find out the test fee.

The IELTS test is offered in two formats – IELTS Academic and General Training.

The IELTS Academic test features academic language and tasks for test takers applying for higher education or professional registration in an English-speaking country.

The IELTS General Training test, features everyday English in a social or workplace context and is for test takers applying for secondary education, work experience or training programs in an English-speaking country.

IELTS is accepted globally by more than 10,000 organisations including universities, professional bodies, employers and Australian student visa and migration applications. The IELTS General Training test is the only non-academic test of English accepted for migration to Australia.
The IELTS test is offered in two formats – IELTS Academic and General Training.

Computer-delivered IELTS is the same as paper-based IELTS, except taken on a desktop computer at an IELTS test centre. Computer-delivered IELTS is now available in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.

You must have the valid passport you used on the IELTS Application Form with you. Additionally, you can bring pens, pencils and erasers with you but must leave everything else outside the test room. Mobile phones and pagers must be switched off and placed with personal belongings in the area designated by the supervisor.

If you are unable to attend your test due to a serious medical condition and can provide a medical certificate within five days of the test date, you will qualify for a refund minus the local administrative cost. However, if you are away on the test day with no prior notice, you will lose your full fee.

You should start preparing at least six weeks before your test date. Practise your English every day by engaging in conversation, reading and completing the IELTS practice tests.
