When should I arrive at the test centre?

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your test with a valid passport. If you arrive later than 10 minutes before your test, you may not be permitted to take the test.

If your test commences at 9AM, you'll be able to enter the test centre from 8AM.

Question 2

I can only see Listening, Reading and Writing tests on the booking website, is the Speaking Test not included in the test fee?

The Speaking Test is included in the test fee. After booking the time slot for Listening, Reading and Writing test, you’ll be able to book the Speaking test on the second step of the booking process.

I have a special requirement. How can you help?

IELTS provides a comprehensive service for test-takers who have special requirements, including specific learning difficulties, hearing difficulties and visual difficulties, medical conditions or infant feeding.

If you require special arrangements to be made, e.g. a modified version of IELTS or extra time, please submit an enquiry here. Alternatively, you may contact us at ielts.sydney@idp.com.

How do I request a refund or test date transfer?

For all refunds and transfers, you must contact us via our web form no later than 5 calendar days after the scheduled test date.

We will advise on the process and any administration costs to complete the refund or transfer.If you require special arrangements to be made, e.g. a modified version of IELTS or extra time, please submit an enquiry here. Alternatively, you may contact us on ielts.sydney@idp.com.

Question 5

Can I get a soft copy of my results?

If you are taking the IELTS test on computer, your results will be available online in typically one day.

We provide a physical copy of your test results for IELTS on paper tests. We post it to your registered mailing address.

If you require it urgently, please contact our team to request Express Post at an additional cost of $7.50 which can be paid over the phone.

Can I take a toilet break during the test?

All IELTS centres have the same toilet break policy. In the Reading and Writing tests, toilet breaks cannot be taken during the last 5 minutes for computer-delivered or the last 10 minutes for paper-based.

No breaks can be taken in the Listening test, during announcements, between tests or while papers are being collected and counted. Please keep this in mind and ensure you are comfortable throughout the day.

What do I need to bring on the day of the IELTS test?

On the day of the test, you must bring your current passport (only original and current passports are accepted). Your passport must have an expiry date of at least 7 days after the test date to be considered valid. Photocopies or certified copies will not be accepted.

You may also bring a clear bottle of water. However, you must remove all labels and bottle must be see-through.

Pencils and erasers will be provided by the test centre. You can bring pencils and erasers with you (usually IELTS test centres will provide these to you during the test. Please check at the reception if you can take the stationery items inside the test room).
