Prepare for IELTS on computer

You can choose to take IELTS on a computer or paper for both the General Training and Academic tests.

The test format, question types, time allocated to each test part and content is the same for both IELTS on computer test and the IELTS on paper test.

The only difference is in your test day experience.
If you choose to complete your IELTS test on a computer, you will do the Reading, Listening, and Writing parts of the test using a computer. All answers will be typed on the screen. You will also be able to write notes on a notes sheet during the Listening test.
The IELTS Speaking remains the same, with a face-to-face interview with an examiner.

How is IELTS on computer different from IELTS on paper?

If you’ve done IELTS before, you might know the paper test. So, what about the computer test? IELTS on computer is exactly the same test as paper-based IELTS, but instead of writing your answers on paper, you will type them on a computer.

What is the fee for IELTS in Australia?

The cost for an IELTS test in Australia is $445.00 The price for the exam is the same whether you take IELTS General Training or IELTS Academic. The price is also the same whether you do IELTS on computer or paper. There is no separate registration fee or payment processing fee. There is also no late payment fee.

Is the IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) the same?

Whether you do IELTS on computer or paper, your Test Report Form (TRF) results are the same. However, if you have done an IELTS on computer test, you will also be able to access your official results online, as an eTRF, through your profile.

An IELTS eTRF is a digital version of the IELTS Test Report Form. It's the same IELTS TRF you know, delivered digitally.

Additionally, IELTS is accepted by over 12,000 universities, government bodies, and organisation around the world. So, if you need IELTS for study or migration, you know that your scores are accepted.

How can I check my IELTS on computer score?

If you have taken IELTS on computer test, we’ll release your results 2-5 days after your test date. You can check and access your results online.

Additionally, sometimes you can get your IELTS results through SMS. If you want to know if this option is available, please check with your Test Centre before your results are released. Your IELTS Test Centre will send you your Test Report Form (TRF) to your postal address.

Is the IELTS on computer is easier than the IELTS on paper?

Because the content is the same, the level of difficulty for both IELTS on computer and paper are the same. In addition, neither test is easier than the other because the scoring for all sections is also the same. However, some test takers did find IELTS on computer easier because of their comfort level. Also, people who use computers and phones more for typing in their daily lives would rather take the IELTS test on the computer, than write on paper.
