Victoria’s 2024-25 Skilled Visa Nomination Program is open!
Victoria offers visa nomination for skilled professionals living in Victoria or overseas for the following skilled visas: Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
To be invited to apply for Victorian skilled visa nomination, you must firstly make or update an Expression of Interest (EOI) via the Australian Government’s SkillSelect and then submit a Registration of Interest (ROI).
Both visa subclasses under the Victorian Skilled Migration Program include an English proficiency requirement, which can be fulfilled by taking an IELTS test and meeting the minimum scores required.

How do I apply for the Victorian skilled visa nomination?
1. Check your eligibility
Make sure you meet the requirements for the visa you are planning to apply for:
2. Submit your EOI
Submit or update your Expression of Interest (EOI) via the Australian Government’s SkillSelect.
3. Submit your ROI
Using the EOI number received from SkillSelect, create an account on the Live in Melbourne portal and submit a Registration of Interest (ROI) for Victorian visa nomination.
If you are already in Australia, you must be living in Victoria to be eligible to submit an ROI. If you wish to submit an ROI for the 491 visa, you must be living and working in regional Victoria. You cannot submit multiple ROIs.
4. Submit your nomination application
After you are invited, submit a nomination application in the Live in Melbourne portal.
You must first be invited to apply for Victorian skilled visa nomination before you can submit a nomination application.
5. Submit your visa application
If your nomination application is successful, you will automatically receive an invitation to apply for your visa from the Department of Home Affairs.
You can submit a visa application for your selected visa with the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs.
You have 60 days to lodge your visa application from the time you receive your invitation to apply.
Important things to consider:
A Registration of Interest (ROI) is not an application for Victorian visa nomination, and there is no processing timeframe.
If you have submitted a Registration of Interest but have not received an email inviting you to apply for Victorian nomination, you cannot apply. There is no guarantee that your ROI will be invited.
If your ROI is assessed as eligible but not yet invited, it will remain under consideration for the following invitation rounds.
There is no charge to apply for Registration of Interest or Victorian visa nomination. The Department of Home Affairs will charge a fee when you submit your visa application.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a Victorian nomination, you must:
be committed to living in Victoria
have had your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected

have at least 65 points on the Australian Government’s points test for your Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect

What IELTS score do I need to achieve?
For the Victorian 2024-25 Skilled Migration Program the minimum English Language proficiency required for both visa subclasses is Competent English.
To prove you have competent English for these subclasses, the Department of Home Affairs accept IELTS test results, including One Skill Retake (OSR), as proof of English proficiency.

Immigration and the law
Legislation about immigration changes frequently. It’s important to check the Australian Department of Home Affairs website for changes that may apply to you. If you are interested in Australian student visas, work visas, or looking to migrate permanently, you need to lodge an application with the Australian Government. You may want to consider getting support from a lawyer or migration agent.
